Local media are facing difficulties with the supply of paper for newspapers

Since August 24, 2013, El Sol de Maturín, a privately managed newspaper based in Monagas state, stopped circulating because it does not have the paper to print its newspapers on, as informed by the information coordinator of the printed media, Jaime Leal. He detailed that they are having inconveniences with the supply of paper a national company provides for them. Local media El Periódico de Monagas and El Oriental have also encountered difficulties in the acquisition of their prime raw material.

 

This situation has continued on for 10 days. The media continues to inform through its web portal http://www.elsoldematurin.info, so the journalists continue doing their daily work, as per information furnished by Leal to IPYS Venezuela. The newspaper expressed it expects to solve this situation in the next few days.

 

Meanwhile, El Oriental and El Periódico de Monagas have also presented difficulties purchasing printing materials. Some economic measures have been taken to face this problem.
