The National Network of IPYS Correspondents in Venezuela

IPYS Venezuela has a National Network of Correspondents which is active in the principal states of Venezuela. This is a platform which this institution has managed to construct in its 11 years of trajectory, which represents a differentiating element that adds value to the endeavor of promoting and defending the freedom of expression, the access to information and investigative journalism in Venezuela.

We are present all over the national territory with our correspondents in the following states: Aragua, Anzoátegui, Barinas, Bolívar, Carabobo, Falcón, Lara, Mérida, Monagas, Portuguesa, Táchira and Zulia. Meanwhile, the plant team at our offices in Caracas monitors and conducts follow-up actions in the metropolitan area.

The journalists comprising this network are our representatives and liaison units in the regions: they are our eyes and our arms in various cities, and above all, configure the essence of the rigorous and permanent monitoring work conducted by IPYS Venezuela. Not only do they reinforce our presence nationwide, but they ensure the quality and veracity of the events regarding the cases of threats, aggressions and assaults and limitations on freedom of expression we report and document in a detailed manner.

The teamwork developed with the members of the network of correspondents for the comprehensive monitoring of the situation of freedom of expression has permitted us to report on breaches and violations to freedom of expression and offer guidelines to the affected journalists on their rights, the procedures for filing complaints and lawsuits, the preventive and safety measures they must enforce to guarantee their physical integrity and IT security measures aimed at preserving the information they manage through digital channels. The presence of our correspondents offers the possibility of having direct contact with the victims and detecting the needs, difficulties or fears of the persons who have been affected.
