International analysis program on private TV channel taken off the air

On August 26, 2013, Moisés Naím denounced that his program called Efecto Naím was taken off the air from the programming grid of Globovisión, a private TV plant based in Caracas, federal district. The Venezuelan writer and columnist pointed out to IPYS Venezuela that he has no idea why his international analysis program was taken off the air. This situation took place within the framework of a change in the editorial line of that media as a result of new administrative management marked by complains on the closing of programs to denounce irregularities and vent opinions.

Moisés Naím explained to IPYS Venezuela that his program was produced by Telemundo internacional, a TV network based in the United States, which had entered into an agreement with Globovisión to air its international analysis programs on Sundays at 9:30 a.m.

The radio show host stated that the Venezuelan TV channel sent a notification via e-mail on August 23, 2013 to the representatives of Telemundo on the decision to stop airing Efecto Naím through Globovisión.

Naím offered no further details to IPYS Venezuela on this case. For this reason, it is not known if the decision by Globovisión was related to the content aired in that space for international analysis.

IPYS Venezuela contacted the channel´s representatives, who did not respond to this organization´s request.
